Making Money From Internet Marketing Is Possible But Beware Of Ekes Bearing Gifts

Making Money From Internet Marketing

Have you been told that you can be making money from internet marketing? Not only can you cash in big time, but it’s easy to do.

Yes, you can make money from internet marketing. But easy? Not so much.

Much will depend on your patience, commitment and the amount you can invest.

I would also suggest that many newbies believe that the internet marketing space is filled with scammers. They, or someone they know, was burned by the latest get-rich-quick scheme promoted on social media or elsewhere. If your social media algorithms show lots of marketing-related posts, you know what I’m referring to.

Word to the wise: Beware of ekes bearing gifts you can’t refuse.

There are two ways to deal with this view. Realize that while there are many bogus ‘opportunities’online, there are plenty of legitimate ways to make money on the internet. Secondly, and most importantly, if making money on the internet is what you truly want to do, then learn from your mistakes and move on.

I’ve had two revelations this years and, while this might be obvious to many of you, they were important wake-up calls for me.

The first was that, if you want to be successful in affiliate marketing in a reasonable period of time, you’re are going to have to shell out a few dollars. And by few I’m talking, say, $200 per month minimum. Simply put, even if you insist on continuing to spend $17 on the next bright, shiny marketing object, you will have to invest, at the very least, in some advertising costs.

Caveat: Yes, you can accomplish much with very little capital but, unlike the good old days of making money from internet marketing, it can take a long, long time.

Here’s a very hard truth and I share it in your best interests: Can’t afford to spend on advertising? You’re better off in a regular wage situation while working on your online marketing in your spare time if that’s all that’s available. The good news is that it’s going up to $15 in some states and other locations are likely to follow.

The next revelation was that if you’re going to spend $200 – $300 on advertising, you are at risk of just getting by on commissions of $20 and $40.

Solution? Find something to market where the commissions are 90% and you can make $1,000 and more on big tickets sales on an ongoing basis.

I’ve been making money from internet marketing for almost 20 years and, while I’ve always understood the hard work part, I never quite grasped the investment aspect. And big ticket items? On the internet they are often digital goods like comprehensive courses or online training with a proven expert.

Yes, the hard work part. For every done-for-you program available, you’re going to need to invest the time and energy to make these what’s done-for-you tools work for you.

Now, despite the come-on advertising, I understand you’ll need to make the effort. In this day in age, with all the ads flickering across your screen and in your inbox, I am partially sympathetic to what some may consider hype or overstatement in the promotion process.

Yes, as I mentioned earlier, downright lying and rip-offs are what I (and I suspect you) have a problem with. As you know, these are not uncommon on the internet. True, it’s less egregious than it was, say, 10 years ago, but the con artists are still very much with us.

I’m writing this in the hope that you’ll keep a close eye out for some of the scams. Most people are honest, but

Watch out for these making money from internet marketing schemes:

Solo ad vendors who are part of a consortium of IP spammers and click networks. Use a tracker like Clickmeter to watch the results.

Software sellers who want to give you free sign-up software or place some code in your hosting account. Check for reviews on the products before investing.

Facebook group leaders who essentially use a free forum to boost their own products while keeping yours at the bottom of the pile. Test the waters of these charitable marketing venues and move on if you’re being shunted to the sidelines.

Fledgling email autoresponder services that ‘borrow’ your names for their own marketing efforts. Not sure about this? Give them a try and you’ll find out one way or another soon enough.

Like to save money? Don’t be lulled into signing up for one of the gazillion overnight rags to riches programs out there. Rags to riches is possible in affiliate marketing, but it takes hard work and almost never happens over night.

Am I being too negative? It’s possible. Just beware of ekes bearing gifts.

Even though I live in an area that has pooper scooper laws, I know from experience that you can have encounters of the worst kind if you don’t watch your step while exploring the neighborhood.

I should also like to add that many of the ‘scammers’ simply don’t know any better. Some come from cultures where this kind of behavior is acceptable and even commendable. Others are so desperate for dough that they throw caution to the wind in the hope of making a big score.

Marketing Scams

True, these folks are not stealing the savings of senior citizens nor selling heroin over the net. They’re simply internet marketers trying to make a buck the only way they know how.

Like many other of today’s problems, these failings can be corrected with the right education.

Want to successfully be making money from internet marketing? Find a mentor. Invest in a course. Stick with the winners and be patient. You can succeed as an honest internet marketer if you know what to do, how to do it and who do it with.
