How to begin blogging is a frequent question asked by those who are new to internet marketing. The first thing I’d recommend is to perfect my craft by posting in relevant groups on Facebook, Tumblr, StumbleUpon or Reddit. You can post a paragraph or two and then expand them for your blog. Watching relevant videos on YouTube and putting the message into words is another way of getting started.
Also, add links to your post headlines on platforms like Twitter. Be sure to add good graphics and see what kind of response you get. If you aren’t able to master the art of writing good headlines nobody will read your articles in the first place. There are a lot of free ebooks and some good courses on this topic. Check them out.
Plagiarism, of course, is a no-no. Some have many rationalizations from doing this – from communist sympathies to no one will notice. Plagiarism is never a good idea. It makes enemies and results in bad karma down the road.
Content curation, on the other hand, is perfectly legitimate. It involves quoting at length from a particular article or adding the text of an entire article with a personal introduction from you as to the relevance of the text presented. Of course, all credit must be given and links to the original author’s bio or publication is mandatory. Content curation is often used by many main stream publications and it can garner traffic. The problem for internet marketing bloggers is that this can lead to adding to the quoted expert’s following, leaving you in the lurch. You can try this occasionally, but proceed with caution.
Lastly, asking how to begin blogging is not unlike asking how to write the great American novel. Many people are simply not endowed with the innate talent to accomplish this and many others have absolutely no interest in cultivating the art. Keep in mind that you can use a freelancer or work with PLR products or do videos or podcasts. In fact, many have moved on from blogging to create a YouTube channel. Why not do both?
